Day 2 of Writing Challenge

Prompt:  It’s raining outside and a knocking sound comes from your front door, you open the door to find Death beckoning you forward.

Blurb –

Well this day keeps getting worse, I think while I’m staring death in the face, or so he calls himself. Death is tall, around 6ft or so, which is a perfect height for my 5ft 4in frame. His hair, which is pitch black is shaved down just enough to show off the wave pattern his hair makes. His chocolate skin is any woman’s chocolate fantasy with equally milk chocolate eyes, I know I could get lost in those eyes forever.

I’m sure you’re all wondering how I’ve gotten myself in this situation with Death staring me in the face all six feet of him.

Day 1 of Writing Challenge

Prompt:  You wake up one day to someone calling your name, you open your eyes to find your dog/cat speaking.

Blurb –

“Cydney, Cydney.” I thought it was odd that my dream guy suddenly began whispering my name in the middle of our conversation.

“Cydney…Cydney.” There it was again one second tall, dark, and handsome is complimenting me, the next he’s licking my face, this is not normal.

Opening my eyes, I see my dog Jax starring back at me. I leaned over to pat his head and rub his ears greeting him since he found this was the perfect moment to wake e up.

“Thanks for the wake-up call Jax, you seem to always wake me up at the worst times.”

“You were going to be late,” I stare down at Jax confused by where that comment came from, “Jax?”

Thanks for checking out the first day of my short story writing challenge, feel free to post your thoughts. Until next time readers, be sure to Read THS!

Bitten: The Bitten Series Review

Bitten (Book 0.5 The Bitten Series) by Lynn Best

Published: October 2017 Genre: Paranormal Romance

E-book, 51 pages.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5

Amazon                   Barnes & Noble

Synopsis: Stephanie moves to Austin with her boyfriend where they are starting their lives together. But almost as soon as they get settled in a new city things begin to fall apart, this man that she moved across states with is not the same guy he was before. Now, Stephanie is sitting in a little coffee shop crying her eyes out over her lack of a relationship when she is approached by a handsome stranger, Francisco. Soon she catches herself being drawn to this handsome stranger only to find out he has issues of his own.

I thought the story was okay. I think I just had personal issues with the speed at which these two main characters fell into each others arms, but what can you expect from a 51 page book, right? I know this was just a glimpse to get me captivated by the story but it was just to fast for me. I personally would have liked to see Stephanie and Francisco build a little more on their sudden attraction, and maybe leave us with a huge cliffhanger. It might just be my thoughts, but I do love some suspense and maybe some moments of heart break, but ultimately I want to see the happy ending. I just believe this book wasn’t for me, but I think I will give the 1st book a shot to see if there is the anticipation, and angst that I was missing.

Beauty and the Beast: An Adult Fairytale Romance Review

Beauty and the Beast: An Adult Fairytale Romance by Vivienne Savage

Published: October 2016, Genre: Fairytales

Audiobook 7hrs 7min.

Amazon                       Barnes&Noble                             Google Books

As a fairytale retelling, I don’t think I need to fully go into a full back story. Beauty and the beast is primarily about learning to love and care for those not because of their looks, but because of who they are.

Princess Anastasia Rose has a journey ahead of her, although she has been promised the ability to attend university to further her studies, that promise is broken because of war. When a war breaks out between her kingdom and another she is set out to protect and save her kingdom, with this twist Anastasia is brought face to face with a dragon and not one but two Princes.

I loved this retelling of Beauty and the Beast, one of my favorite fairytales. I was happy to see that Anastasia was a strong heroin, one that did what she thought was needed to help her family. I liked seeing that it wasn’t just about her father that needed rescuing but the entire kingdom, she was educated, strong, but most of all caring and loving something I truly love about Belle. Now, I normally don’t lean towards dragon tales but, I did fall in love with Alistair. I enjoyed reading from his perspective, and knowing the inner struggles he was going through as the one dealing with the spell. Although I knew how this tale was going to end, somewhat, I was still found myself hoping that they would come together, but all turned out as it should, and I am glad I decided to give this one a try.

Claimed by a Demon King Review

Claimed by a Demon King (Book #2 Eternal Mates) by Felicity Heaton

Published:  February 2014, Genre: Paranormal Romance

King Thorne and Sable first met in Book 1 of the series of Eternal Mates. Upon there first encounter Thorne and Sable both found each other attractive, but Thorne new from the moment he set eyes on Sable that she was his fated one. Sable a “human” was thrust into wars in hell because of her friend Olivia whom we learned about in Book 1 kissed by a Dark Prince. Sable, is working towards commander at Archangel she and a team of hunters are preparing for a war in the Third Realm. This war brings Sable and Thorne together they have to fight side by side to save Thornes’ kingdom in the third realm. Where war is coming upon them the attraction between the two become unbearable, and their passion explodes and they find themselves falling even harder for one another.

I really enjoyed the story line I did find some of the events a little predictable but was also kept on my toes. I loved Thorne, he was very woo worthy, but Sable at times appeared hard to deal with. The only thing I was left wondering was information Sable came upon. Heaton does not conclude this information, and I am hoping to finding out what this new information means to Sable.
