30 Day Writing Challenge by Cydney

Hey there TH*S readers!

Hey TH*S readers, “It’s the final countdown!” (I know you’re all singing along). I wanted to give you all a quick reminder as the days dwindles down to the start of my first ever hosted Writing Challenge. I am super excited to share some of my prompts with you guys and to also see how you guys respond to the event, plus you can never have too many ideas, right? Below you will find the rules of the writing challenge, the rules are very basic and straight to the point. If anyone has questions about the challenge you may definitely contact me. Thanks!

Rules:

  • Write at least 250 words, mainly the opening paragraph. Of course, you can write more, but I like to keep things open and fresh for future references.
  • Add in an important detail, a favorite name, a favorite flower, something that you’ll always remember about that opening.
  • Starts September 1, 2108, ends September 30, 2018, but feel free to continue, take a break, or start over again at any time.
  • Take 5 minutes out of the day to let your imagination go wild. Five minutes may seem like the smallest amount of time in the world, but I have noticed that every little time gets me a step closer to finishing my story. And although I more than likely go over that five minute break time, I make sure to add something if only a couple of sentences because I am working towards my goal.
  • Share. Don’t be afraid to share where the prompt took you. I will try my best to attach my own blurb so that you all see that I am participating alongside with you all.

Pennies Review

Pennies (Book #1 of the Dollar Series) by Pepper Winters

Published: July 2016 Genre: Romance/Mystery

E-book: 300 pages

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Amazon        Barnes & Noble       Kobo

Where do I begin? There are so many things I could say, but I refuse to spoil the book for you. Pepper Winters is known as the Queen of Darkness, every book I have read by her has taken me on a emotional roller coaster and still I continue to read.

Pennies is about a girl that is stolen, stolen from the life she knows and dragged to a world that is not at all pretty. She becomes a slave, a slave to a man that takes pleasure in doing the unthinkable. She suffers this ill fate for some time, at moments wishing things would just be over with, and yet she holds out until the day Elder Prest enters her life. Both Pim and Elder share similar qualities they are stubborn, strong, intelligent, and caring but the obstacle that keeps them apart are their issues. They are two broken souls with traumatizing pasts and a questioning future.

This first book is set-up perfectly, it is a show burner romance that is not at all romantic. While reading, the events that take place are so vivid that you believe you have lived through them yourself. The writing rakes you into the book where you can clearly see everything act out in front of your eyes. If you enjoy suspense, romance, action, and thrillers with a dark side I definitely recommend this read.

The Seduction Review

The Seduction by Roxy Sloane

Published: February 2015 Genre: Romance, Erotica

E-book, 187 pages

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Amazon                    Barnes & Noble                   Kobo                             Itunes

The Seducer, has made a life for himself doing what he does best…seducing. He takes in clients from all sorts of walks of life, some wanting to gain dirt on their competitor, and even those trying to get out of divorces. You could say that the Seducer does his own kind of private eye work. The Seducer is given a new job, Keely Fawes but unlike his other jobs this one takes a bit harder to crack than others. Keely Fawes, is a good girl, she goes to work, busts her ass, works overtime and does it all again the next day just to cover the bills. But when the Seducer comes along, there’ll be more on her mind than her normal busy schedule.

Hi, my name is Cydney and I am addicted to steamy romance books. Okay, now that I got that off of my chest lets begin. Vaughn, our Seducer is your book boyfriend dream come true,  he has a strong personality, he obviously has a nice body, and he says everything you didn’t think you wanted to hear. From the beginning chapters you are swept up in the sensual whispers Vaughn uses for Keely, and like every good girl Keely stays away, physically that is. The basis of the story is built on Keely and Vaughn’s relationship but there is background noise worth listening to. As the background continues to move forward, although Vaughn and Keely are at a stand still you are continuously drawn in by the sensual air of the two. Keely learns a lot about herself, and tries to learn more about Vaughn but with him using his ultimate super power, its difficult to get anywhere except to the bedroom. If you are looking for a hot, steamy number this is it, but fair warning this is a series, I know, I know I can’t stand them either…but I just can’t help myself.

Sugar by Lydia Michaels

Avery Johansson is borrowing against her youth and beauty to afford a better future by working as a sugar baby. Men think she’s everything they desire, soft, delicate, and able to stroke their fragile egos with a mere sweep of her lashes. The more they pay, the sweeter she becomes. If only they knew the woman behind the façade. Oh, she could bring them to their knees, make them beg, and unburden their minds to a point of ecstasy. The true Avery doesn’t care for roses. She prefers the thorns. Because behind her beautiful exterior, she’s more leather than lace, and beneath the sugar there’s nothing but spice. The only thing missing is a strong and submissive man to make everything nice.

Noah Wolfe is used to getting exactly what he wants when he wants, and as he sets his sights on Avery Johansson, nothing will stop him short of having her. He’s determined to bury himself in her mind and body, and plans to unravel every dark secret she hides.

As two dominant hearts collide in an explosion of sin and secrets, boundaries come tumbling down. But their future lies in someone’s surrender, a sacrifice neither is prepared to make—and everything their happiness depends on.

How to Invest $50 – $5,000 The Small Investor’s Step-By-Step Plan for Low-Risk Investing in Today’s Economy by Nancy Dunnan

As promised here is the first entry of How, this weeks review is on the, Introduction Chapter – Getting the Most for your Money.

The Introduction chapter included 3 charts, that I would like to share with you today, as well as the fact that it is never to late to begin investing and to get your financial life in order.

Chart 1 – Reading Your Goals – How Saving Can Be Fun

Goal                 Cost                    Target Date            Months To Go             Save Each Month

Ex.  Vacation         $1,000                 7/1/2018                  5                                     $200

Now this chart is very helpful, especially to keep with your financial goals for upcoming events. I found an app that does the same thing and pulls money from a specific account, Digit.

Chart 2 – The Rule of 72

The Rule of 72 is a quick and easy way to know how long it will take for you to double your investments. You divide 72 by the interest rate and you will determine how many years it will take to double your money.

Ex. 72 divided by 7% is 10.30 years.

Chart 3 – The Ten Dumbest Mistakes People Make About Money

  1. Being Ashamed to Invest Small Amounts
  2. Having Inadequate Emergency Savings
  3. Leaving Cash in a Bank Savings Account
  4. Operating Too Many Accounts
  5. Confusing Income with Appreciation
  6. Avoiding Financial Goal Setting
  7. Failing to Diversify
  8. Procrastinating
  9. Ignoring Savings Plans at Work
  10. Failing to Have a Will.

This final chart also had solutions for every mistake that you may have made. The goal is to mark by which mistakes you’ve made and follow through with the solutions. I did not include the solutions, but I will if you guys need me to.

Calamity Rayne Gets a Life Review

Calamity Rayne Gets a Life by Lydia Michaels

Pages: 382 (Amazon Kindle)

Rating: 5 stars

Rayne Meyers (Calamity Rayne) is a thirty-year-old trying to get her life together, aren’t we all? I thoroughly enjoyed the book, the fact that Rayne looks at her life and all that she has done and realizes that she needs to change the career path that she is currently stuck in, is something a lot of people can easily relate to. Rayne then decides to take a chance and reach out for an interview with the well-known Davenport family as a personal assistant.  Rayne, not being the best at making choices and sticking to them, or filtering what she says, as well as inexperience in the field she does her best to make a good impression on her new boss. The glorious wrench that is thrown into her plans goes by the name of Hale Davenport, yes, the son of her boss.

Hale Davenport is a charming, well educated, and wealthy thirty-year-old, who also just so happens to be the son of Raynes’ boss. Hales’ plans are offset by Calamity Rayne herself, the passion that sparks between the two of them comes on thick right off the bat, but you are given a chance to see what truly lies beneath the heat of their relationship. Hale and Rayne are certainly opposites, but don’t they say opposites attract?

I love the style of writing from Lydia Michaels, I enjoy how she plays on the everyone’s insecurities, but shows their strengths as well. Rayne always expressed situations she wasn’t comfortable with but always put forth the effort when needed. Rayne is someone we can relate to at any age, we all have moments where we don’t feel all to comfortable, Rayne shows just how normal it is. Hale turns out to be the perfect gentleman and while everyone has their own past and issues to work on, Hale takes care of his in an amazing way.

This was given to me as an arc read for an honest review.

I will be reading Calamity Rayne Back Again soon and will be posting a review as soon as I finish the book. I am excited to see what decisions Rayne makes and what path she is led down.

What’s on my Bookshelf Tuesdays?

As promised here is the first post of Read TH*S new Tuesday tradition.

Summary
The Man Without Rules, by Tyffani Clark Kemp,
this book is apart of my nook bookshelf. This steamy story is the beginning of a heart gripping romance that expands over two more books. Sebastian, Mariss, and Holden, the three true main characters will have you constantly questioning yourself as their stories begin to weave in and out around one anothers lives. This book is told from Sebasrians perspective, which gives us a little insight on his mindset and sexlife. Sebastian Boa is a model who gets whatever woman he wants, while Mariss Red is happily married to Holden Red and the proud owner of The Red Wife Club. Holden Red, is a professional basketball player who is constantly traveling for work. On one night their three lives clash in a hot ménage à trois that shows up in the beginning of the book, what happens afterwards is where the true story lies. This book has temptation, love, lust, romance, passion and much more. You will love and hate the main characters, but find that you want to figure out what else is going to happen.

My Thoughts
The book has some mistakes, words that are misspelled and some punctuation problems. Although there are errors they do not completely ruin the book. Holden the husband is away a lot due to playing professional Basketball, I found some of those areas impossible to believe. Yes Basketball players do travel, but many times wives go to show support, Kemp never spoke of Mariss going to a game or even reflecting on games she maybe attended in the past. I understand that Kemp wanted to make a book that had the temptation seeping through, but some moments were a little predictive. I did continue and finish the series, if you want to find out what happens to Sebastian, Mariss, and Holden I don’t think it will be a complete waste of time.

Let me know what you guys think. Do you want spoilers, more information, would you like a summary type of review on the next two books? Will you pick up the book, or is this a pass? If you’ve read the book/series did you fall for Sebastian? Did you understand the struggle Mariss had? Would you knowingly cheat? Comment below.
